Ridgway River Festival

Piper and Dad entered the "Inflatables" Down-River-Race on Saturday at the 4th Annual Ridgway River Festival. The river was running high and the competition was fierce! We edged out one double duckie with a pass late in the race and took 3rd place! Yahoo!

Then I got recruited to join Scott and Tate's team for Junk of Unc Race. A little bit of carnage!

 

 

Bluegrass in Telluride!

Bluegrass was in the air on Saturday in Telluride. Great weather, great music. Piper hula-hooped the entire Yonder set and part of the Decemberists set. That is almost 2 hrs!

Dolores Canyon

Our friends Val & Ian came down for a week. We did
a 3 day trip through Dolores Canyon. It was running
fairly high this year, around 1500 cfs. Wendy was
on the raft most of the trip and Piper was with me
in the Shredder. Lots O fun!

Moab

We decided to head out to the desert for Memorial Day weekend. Its been a number of years since we've been to Moab, and we weren't sure how busy it would be. All of the BLM campspots were full, so we headed up Castle Valley and camped in the open space up there.

We had two canyon hikes on our list of to-dos for the weekend. Negro-Bill Canyon was first up.

The natural bridge was cool. There were some people rappelling off of it too.

After a very windy night, we got some breakfast and headed over to Hunter Canyon. This trail head was a little out of the way, and we were hoping for fewer people. We were rewarded with a great hike down a beautiful canyon with just a few other hikers.

Puerto Penasco - Annual Trip

We just got back from Puerto Penasco for Spring Break. The trip was good. Had a few days with waves this year. Got in some fishing. There was an unusual amount of dead sealife washed up on shore this year. Things like seahorses, manta ray skeleton, and many fish.

River Canyon

We did a bit of exploring yesterday. Out to Naturita and to the confluence of the San Miguel and the Dolores. Very cool canyon walls with some sort of old water line on a vertical wall above the river.
